President Yan Chunhua participated in the talks held for presidents from both countries on the afternoon of May 12th. He introduced the history and basic situations of Lanzhou University and exchanged views on student exchange, joint training, reciprocal visits between scholars and research cooperation, and invited university presidents from Japan to attend the 110th anniversary activities of Lanzhou University in 2019.
The Forum was inaugurated on May 13rd. President Yan Chunhua was invited to make a speech entitled “prioritize school-running characteristics and build a world-class university ”. In his speech, he elaborated theories on school management of LZU and measures to build “world-class university” and “first-class academic subject”, and put forward the idea that being “distinctive” and “high-level” is inevitable for world-class universities. With continuous efforts on highlighting characteristics of the Belt and Road and improving open education, LZU hopes to conduct pragmatic cooperation with Japanese universities, and expects Japanese universities will participate in the construction of Belt and Road University Alliance proposed by LZU in a variety of ways in order to serve mutual common interests and to increase political mutual trust between China and Japan and promote the mutual understanding and affection of people from both sides.
