On May 7th and 8th, Belt and Road International Forum, co-sponsored by LZU and Open University of Tbilisi and organized by the Confucius Classroom at the Open University of Tbilisi, LZU Research Center for the Belt and Road of and LZU Georgia Research Center, was held at the Open University of Tbilisi.
Ji Yanchi, Chinese ambassador to Georgia, Davit, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, David, president of the Georgia National Partnership Fund, and Pan Baotian, Vice President of LZU attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The forum attracted more than 100 multinational experts and people from all walks of life in Georgia from Russia, Italy, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries along the Belt and Road.
LZU Vice Pres. Pan Baotian, on behalf of China, delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony. He said that the Sino-Georgian exchanges had a long history, and the "Belt and Road Initiative" would further promote economic, scientific and educational development of the two countries. As the organizer of the forum, LZU would actively participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and shoulder social responsibility of higher education for the development of the country.
The forum included 25 thematic reports, rich in content and profound in research, covering topics of politics and international relations, business economics and laws, higher education and culture. Experts and scholars from University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, LZU, Southwest Jiaotong University, and other universities made keynote speeches and conducted in-depth exchanges around the “Belt and Road Initiative”.
