On the evening of June 2nd, Lanzhou University's Third English Song Contest “Sing youth song, fly young heart” hosted by LZU Student Affairs Office and Youth League Committee was held in Wenxin Auditorium of Yuzhong Campus. People in charge of the Academic Affairs Office, Student Affairs Office, Youth League Committee and Scholl of Foreign Languages and Literatures attended the event.
The contest attracted a large number of LZU students who loved English and music. After previous selections, a total of 12 players got through to the finals. Inthe beats of dance "EiEi", this English song contest started. In the first round, the players took the form of one-to-one match, and the winner entered the final. After the fierce competition, the first prize was won by Xie Jiaying from the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures. Wang Yiru&Liu Jiaqi group, Wang Yiru won the second prize. Xu Xu, Rao Xin, and Mai Dina won the third prize. Xu Xin received the best popularity award.
The contest invited four judges who wereMa Rui, deputy director of the Department of Art Practice at Northwestern University for Nationalities, Zhang Yipeng, director of the vocal music teaching department of LZU Art Academy; Chang Liang, director of LZU Youth League Campus Cultural Activity Guidance Center, and JIM, the foreign teacher from the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures. The judges made wonderful comments on the performance of each contestant while expressing their approval of the contest.
The English Song Contest set up a stage for the players to show themselves. It was an important activity that created an English cultural atmosphere in our school, enriched the cultural life on campus, and spread the positive energy, thus being popular among teachers and students.
