Lanzhou University celebrates 25th anniversary of Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders fellowship Fund

Lanzhou University held a commemoration for the 25th anniversary of the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders fellowship Fund (Sylff) on July 2nd. President Yan Chunhua, vice president Pan Baotian, deputy party secretary Cao Aihui, president of the Japanese Consortium Kawa Yohei, The Sasakawa Japan-China Friendship Fund chairman Yu Zhan , executive director of the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research  as well as award-winning representatives attended the ceremony.

In his address, Yan Chunhua said that Sylff has largely improved the development of the humanities and social science research since its setting-up in LZU in 1992, which helped to cultivate a group of outstanding young people with solid foundation, broad vision and the spirit of innovation. Since China and Japan are close neighbours, Japanese teachers and students are more than welcomed to come to LZU for exchanges and further appreciate the profound cultural heritage of Gansu province and the unique features of LZU. Through the bridge of education, both countries will continue to strengthen understanding and cooperation and cultivate great leaders in an effort to contribute to the friendship of two countries. 

Kawa Yohei expressed that Japan and China have a history of exchanges of more than 2,000 years. Both parties should continue to promote mutual understanding between Japan and China to seek new cooperation and gain mutual benefit and win-win results in new era. The students of our times shoulder the future of national development, and they are expected to study harder. They also expect that Japan and China will have more fruitful exchanges and achievements in the future.
